Community Involvement
How do we contribute?
FKP takes a people-to-people approach to business and serving our communities. Staff teams lead multiple ongoing activities, both professional and personal, designed to benefit the communities in which we live. Our most recent service projects include:
Barkitecture
FKP is a regular participant in Barkitecture Houston benefiting Pup Squad, an animal rescue group. In the 2011 competition, FKP's design was named "Best in Show," taking the top prize for the team's one-of-a-kind doghouse. All houses are auctioned to raise funds to support the continued rescue and care of orphaned puppies and kittens.
Canstruction
FKP is an active participant in Houston and Dallas' annual design competition held by the Society for Design Administration. Sculptures using full cans of food are judged then donated to local food banks. FKP was a triple winner in the 2009 Houston competition, honored with Best Use of Labels, Most Needed Food Items and Public Favorite.
Keep Sugar Land Beautiful Adopt-a-Spot
Supporting the Keep Sugar Land Beautiful Adopt-a-Spot program, FKP is the caretaker of Eldridge Park. The FKP team holds regular clean-ups of this 43-acre community amenity that includes trails, sporting fields and a five-acre pond.
Habitat for Humanity
FKP has organized monthly work teams to help build affordable housing for deserving families in Houston’s inner city since 2001. Since 2004, we have sponsored an annual “Bricks ‘n Sticks” golf tournament to raise the funds to sponsor a home.
Dallas Arboretum Storybook Playhouse
Our employee’s design was selected to be a part of Dallas' 2009 Arboretum Storybook Playhouse exhibit, a program aimed at encouraging children's literacy. FKP's playhouse was based on the story Eragon.
