Texas A&M HSC Bryan Campus Reaches Phase I Peak
August 24, 2009
The new Texas A&M Health Science Center flagship campus in Bryan has reached an important milestone. On August 24, 2009, a special ceremony was held at the project site to celebrate the placement of the final structural beam. Phase one — the 132,000 sf Health Professions Education Building (HPEB) and 131,000 sf Medical Research and Education Building (MREB) will be the initial buildings on this 200-acre “campus in a forest.” The HPEB is scheduled for completion in summer 2010 followed by MREB in early 2011.
Following remarks from general contractor Satterfield & Pontikes, designer FKP Architects, the City of Bryan and Texas A&M Health Science Center, attendees signed the final beam and watched proudly as it was hoisted into place. Other members of the design team include Broaddus & Associates, Haynes Whaley Associates, Mitchell & Morgan, Shah Smith & Associates and EDAW.
The new Bryan campus will ultimately allow the Texas A&M Health Science Center to consolidate its academic programs and administration currently located throughout Bryan and College Station onto a single campus.
