Ardis Clinton joins FKP

HOUSTON, TX – FKP Architects welcomes Ardis Clinton, AIA, LEED AP BD+C as a Project Manager in the Science and Education studio. Ardis brings over 11 years of experience in architecture, client management and project management roles in the higher education sector. She will work closely with Cynthia Walston, FAIA, LEED AP, Principal for FKP’s science and education architecture studio. The team is currently programming the new $90 million UTMB Education Center.
“Ardis is a connector, a person who has an idea and knows how to bring people together to accomplish things,” says Walston. “She epitomizes a ‘can-do’ attitude and is willing to take on any challenge. Her talents and history of proven success is a huge asset for our team. Together, we are dedicated to satisfying our clients and delivering project excellence.”

Ardis draws on her previous experience as a project manager and leader for higher education and science projects in Texas. Most recently, she served as the client relationship manager for a new science complex for Abilene Christian University; she helped the University assess its existing facilities, manage the design process and develop funding tools for new construction and renovations totaling over 100,000 square feet.

Additionally, Ardis served as the Project Manager for two projects for Lone Star College System in Kingwood, and she was the Project Manager for University of Houston – Victoria’s new Regional Economic Development Building. She has solid experience with science and research facilities through her involvement in several high profile research laboratories, including the Galveston National Laboratory for The University of Texas Medical Branch.

Ardis is also a contributing writer to Texas Architect magazine. She covers local design projects and regional events and was also the subject of an in-depth profile; the feature covered her personal and professional successes as a team leader, working mother and wife.

Ardis is active in the design community, serving as a mentor for AIA Houston’s intern development program and as a juror for design competitions. She is a participant in the current “Women in Architecture” exhibit, a joint exhibit between the AIA Houston and Architecture Center of Houston. Ardis is a graduate of the University of Houston Hines College of Architecture, where she focused on aerospace architecture a subject she was called to speak about recently at the national conference of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Outside the office, Clinton stays busy with her husband and twin boys.
