Medical Clinic of Houston

Clinical Building

BACKGROUND:
Beginning as a small partnership in 1949, MCH had blossomed into a nine physician clinic by 1968 when they opened their facility near Rice University and the Texas Medical Center. As their practice has grown, MCH has undergone numerous renovations and expansions in response to patient needs and service demands.

CHALLENGE:
After expanding their original building to two, then three floors; using offsite office space and employee parking; and adding mobile MRI and CT units, MCH needed a better solution. In 2003, they acquired adjacent property and set out to replace their building with a new comprehensive facility. Even with the additional land, the tightly confined site would make achieving their vision challenging — especially with the continuous operation of the clinic.

TRANSFORMATION:
The new building not only allowed the opportunity for consolidation and expansion, but also the enhancement of the care experience. Conveniences such as an attached parking garage and onsite conference and training center combined with calming interiors and healing scenic views improve both the patient and staff journey.
