OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Cancer and Critical Care Tower
The Cancer and Critical Care Tower, designed by HOK, is a 20-story building including 216 acute care beds, 72 critical care beds, 24 Bone Marrow Transplant beds, diagnostic and interventional imaging, surgery, pharmacy, lab and other support space. The project also includes ambulatory clinics for solid tumor, hematology, infusion and a clinical trials unit.
Key objectives for FKP Equipment for the building included flexibility to support state-of-the-art technology such as an interventional MRI and a DaVinci robot, among other hybrid interventional rooms. The latest headwall and boom options are being considered along with best practices for same-handed rooms and integration of LEED, patient safety and family-centered care concepts. FKP Equipment started working on the project in the fall of 2007 during the design phase with HOK and has been assisting the team with shell/core input and project equipment costs at each phase. FKP Equipment is providing equipment lists, drawings in Revit, and specifications.
